It is a pleasure to welcome you to this guide to doing business in Brazil.

There are big opportunities for UK business in Brazil. With the UK's preparations for the London Olympic Games widely admired, the UK is in a good position to partner Brazil in its hosting of the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games. Brazil's rapidly growing middle class has a growing appetite for goods and services in which the UK excels - from luxury products to education. Oil & gas, mining, infrastructure development (partly funded by an ambitious government investment plan) and life sciences are already areas where UK companies are prominent and there is room for more.

Brazil is the UK's most important market in Latin America. Our exports to Brazil and investment in the country have been growing fast. Developing further our trade and business relationship with Brazil is a high priority for the UK government. We have increased our presence in the key cities of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro as well as in the capital Brasilia, opened a new Consulate General in Recife, and are looking to extend our reach still further in other promising areas of the country - to help UK companies.

The future looks bright. We look forward to hearing from you.
